In an article published last December in the American magazine CNBC, Dan Buettner, a journalist known for his quest for the secrets to living 100 years, explained what he believes could be the healthiest breakfast in the world.

What started some 20 years ago as an expedition of National Geographicled by Dan Buettner, to uncover the secrets of longevity, evolved into the discovery of five places around the world where people consistently live to be over 100 years old. They were named Blue Zones and they are: Loma Linda (California, USA), Nicoya (Costa Rica), Sardinia (Italy), Icaria (Greece) and Okinawa (Japan).

"As a longevity researcher, I've spent the last 20 years studying the habits of people who live to be 100 or older, particularly the foods they eat. And in a hidden corner of Nicoya, Costa Rica, I may have just found the world's healthiest breakfast".

The world's healthiest breakfast, according to Buettner, consists of a hearty plate of spicy beans with a few corn tortillas and a mixture of onion, garlic, red peppers, pepper and salt. The expert explains that all these ingredients have multiple properties.
